Agave plants have become one of my favorite things to photograph in Texas. They're sculptural, resilient, and at home in some of the harshest landscapes in the state. Captured on film, this black-and-white image strips away the color and lets the shape and texture speak for themselves. Printed on museum-quality matte paper for a gallery-worthy finish.
The desert has never felt empty to me.
Long before I ever made it to Far West Texas, my pockets were full of rocks. I spent my childhood chasing frogs, lizards, and snakes through the creek behind our house. Climbing trees. Scraping my knees. Coming home muddy. Swimming until the sun went down.
The first time I drove into the desert, I remember thinking,
I've been here before.
It's the bones. The stones. The quiet. Nothing is trying to be anything other than exactly what it is.
The desert has never asked me to be impressed.
Only to pay attention.
