The desert is my place.
Long before I ever made it to Far West Texas, my pockets were full of rocks. I spent my childhood chasing frogs, lizards, and snakes through the creek behind our house. Climbing trees. Scraping my knees. Coming home muddy. Swimming until sundown.
The first time I drove into the desert, I remember thinking, I've been here before.
It was the rocks and the dirt and the quiet. The feeling that everything out there had been there much longer than me and would be there long after.
I've always had this urge to document the places and things I love. Partly because I fear things won't always be the same.
Right now, a border wall is being built through Big Bend, changing a landscape I've spent years photographing and hoping would remain wild.
